October 2022: Deportations from Algeria to Niger continue - assistance to deportees by Alarme Phone Sahara's tricycle

Between 8th and 21st of October 2022, at least 1964 people from various countries were deported from Algeria to Niger. The number of people deported since the beginning of 2022 is now at least 19069.

The Alarme Phone Sahara team from Assamaka went to "Point Zero" with their tricycle to assist the deportees, especially the sick, injured and weakened, to get to the village of Assamaka.

More mass deportations from Algeria to Niger in August and September 2022

During the months of August and September 2022, at least 4747 people were deported from Algeria to Niger, according to Alarme Phone Sahara's whistleblowers in Assamaka, the Algerian-Nigerian border. The number of people deported since the beginning of 2022 is now at least 17105.

March 2022: Arrival of further deportation convoys. Precarious situation in Assamaka and in the cities of Niger

On 20th and 22nd of March 2022, at least 1693 people were deported from Algeria to Niger. Alarme Phone Sahara teams report precarious situation in Assamaka and in the northern cities of Niger for thousands of deportees who are not or not sufficiently taken care of in IOM camps.

November 2021: At least 2286 people deported from Algeria to Niger in four deportation convoys

Regular mass deportations from Algeria to Niger continue unabated. With at least 1040 people deported in a large unofficial deportation convoy on 12th of November, at least 456 people deported in an official convoy on 14th of November, at least 100 people deported in an unofficial convoy on 19th of November and at least 690 people deported in an official convoy on 21st of November the number of people deported since the beginning of the year 2021 amounts to at least 22127 people.

At the same time, deportees who are not Nigerien citizens report being harassed and fined by the Niger police because they do not have a residence permit in Niger.

9th and 11th of October 2021: 1092 people deported from Algeria to Niger

Regular mass deportations from Algeria to Niger continue. With at least 587 people deported in a non-official deportation convoy on 9th of October and at least 505 people deported on 11th of October 2021 in an official convoy, the number of people deported since the beginning of the year 2021 amounts to at least 19841 people. In addition, the situation of Nigerien citizens among the deportees is exacerbated by the fact that since 2020, the Nigerien state no longer supports these people in returning to their home communities.

With at least 894 people deported in a non-official deportation convoy on 29th of September and at least 1275 people deported on the first of October 2021 in a large official convoy, the number of people deported since the beginning of the year 2021 amounts to at least 18749 people.

Regular mass deportations from Algeria to Niger continue during the month of August 2021. With at least 1711 people deported on 3rd, 25th and 27th of August 2021, the number of people deported since the beginning of 2021 increases to at least 16580 people.

Again deportation convoys from Algeria into the desert at the border of Niger!

Official and non-official mass deportation convoys from Algeria to the border of Niger are continuing in March 2021. According to the whistleblowers of Alarme Phone Sahara, at least 1054 people have arrived in March only at the border post of Assamaka after being deported.
